The collection consists chiefly of correspondence, photographs, early writings of Strengell and published works of her father, Gustaf Strengell, textile samples and her work in the Philippines. Together they document Strengell’s life as a weaver, teacher, photographer, artist, mother and wife.

The scrapbooks contain news clippings and photographs of Margaret Biggar and Eloise Hooker and their work as metalsmiths. There are also clippings on resident artists and the art studios at Cranbrook Academy of Art, including Kirk, Eschmann, Fredericks, Milles, the weaving studio and the Cranbrook Press.
