Abstract Virginia Beresford Fox, granddaughter of Cranbrook founders, George and Ellen Booth, was born in 1935 in Detroit. Growing up at Cranbrook, she attended Kingswood School during the seventh through tenth grades, and graduated from Chatham Hall in Virginia. Abstract John Clement Lorence, Jr. receivied a B.F.A. in painting in 1959 and an M.F.A. a year later from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Lorence taught art at a variety of schools in Wisconsin and Maine while continuing his career as a painter.
