Abstract

Elizabeth Wallace McLean was the first grandchild of George G. and Ellen Scripps Booth, founders of the Cranbrook Educational Community. Elizabeth was the first of seven students at Brookside School, where she studied until the 10th grade graduating from Kingswood in 1934. The collection contains clippings, photographs, programs, and scrapbooks focusing on the early years of Kingswood and Brookside schools.

Abstract Carl Emil Wilhelm Anderson was a prolific Swedish sculptor who worked as head of the Department of Sculpture at the Cranbrook Academy of Art from 1931-1951. Abstract Jozsef Sulyok-Papp was born in Hungary in 1895 where he studied art. He moved to Montreal, Canada around 1930 and supported himself as an artist and a gallery dealer. He came to Detroit in the 1940s and for the next 20 years worked for the architectural firm of Giffels.
